CNC Machining With 100% Inspection Report Before Shipment

Boyang Hardware · Zhongshan, Guangdong · Every part measured, every shipment documented

Direct answer Every production run at Boyang Hardware is 100% inspected before shipment — not sampled — against a documented standard inspection procedure, using a 3D coordinate measuring machine (CMM), an optical projector, vernier calipers and height gauges. Four documents travel with every shipment: a dimensional inspection report against the drawing, a material certificate for the heat or lot used, a first article inspection record for new parts, and certificates for outsourced finishes such as plating or anodising.

The inspection workflow, step by step

Table 1 — Where inspection happens in a production run. Declared standard process, applied to every run of every size.
Stage What is checked With what
1. Incoming material Material grade matches the drawing specification; heat/lot recorded Material certificate from the mill or distributor
2. First article (new parts) Every dimension on the drawing measured on the first off part CMM, calipers, height gauges; FAI record issued
3. In-process Critical features checked during machining so errors are caught at the machine, not at the end Calipers, micrometers at the machine
4. Pre-shipment, 100% All dimensions on every part, plus 100% visual inspection for burrs, finish and cosmetic defects CMM, optical projector, calipers, height gauges
5. Documentation Reports compiled per shipment and packed with the parts Dimensional report, material cert, FAI, finish certs

Inspection equipment — and what each one actually measures

Table 2 — Equipment at the Zhongshan facility and its role.
Equipment What it is for Typical role
3D CMM (coordinate measuring machine) Full 3D dimensional measurement of prismatic and curved features Critical dimensions, bearing bores, datums, FAI
Optical projector (profile projector) 2D profile magnified against an overlay or scale Small features, radii, angles, thin sections
Height gauges Precise height and step measurement from a datum face Flatness-critical faces, hole positions
Vernier calipers Fast general measurement of outside, inside and depth dimensions Non-critical dimensions, 100% coverage

How tight these measurements can go: typical process tolerances run from ±0.02 mm (3-axis milling) to ±0.005 mm (grinding, wire EDM), with 0.001 mm on critical features — see tolerance capability.

The four documents that ship with your parts

  1. Dimensional inspection report — actual measured values against the drawing, for the parts in that shipment.
  2. Material certificate — identifies the heat or lot of material used, so traceability from part back to material is intact.
  3. First article inspection record — issued for new parts; becomes the reference for all repeat batches.
  4. Outsourced finish certificates — for plating, anodising and other surface treatments performed by specialist partners.

For buyers assembling these documents into their own PPAP-style package: state the format you need at enquiry, and the report is prepared to match.

If something is wrong: how non-conformance is handled

Because inspection is 100% and documented, a non-conformance is caught before it ships — the report identifies the affected part and dimension before packing. If a customer-reported issue does occur, the material certificate and dimensional report allow the specific lot and machine route to be identified, and replacement parts are produced and inspected the same way. Claim status for our quality management system: ISO 9001 and RoHS are recorded on our Made-in-China storefront; certificate number and scope are supplied on request — see the verification record.

Honest limits: 100% inspection measures what the drawing specifies. If a functional requirement is not on the drawing — a fit feel, a surface texture beyond the noted finish, a leak test — it will not be inspected unless it is stated. Put every inspected characteristic on the drawing or in the purchase order, and the report will cover exactly those. We also do not claim customer-specific quality approvals (PPAP levels beyond our standard documents, customer audits, Nadcap) without confirming in writing first.

FAQs

Can I see a sample inspection report before ordering?

Yes — a sample dimensional inspection report is available on request, so you can see the format and level of detail before your first order.

Does 100% inspection apply to small batches too?

Yes — the standard is the same for a 30-piece prototype batch and a production run. There is no minimum order and no reduced inspection for small orders; see small batch machining.

Can you inspect to my gauge or my datums?

Datums and critical dimensions on your drawing define the measurement plan. If your company uses specific gauges or a specific report format, state this at quotation so the plan is set before production starts.
