CNC machining

CNC machining covers the majority of work at Boyang Hardware and needs no tooling, which makes it the standard route for prototypes, low-volume builds and any part whose design is still moving. Milling is split across three-axis, four-axis and five-axis machines; turning is handled by CNC lathes and turn-mill combination machines that complete a part in one fixturing.

CNC milling — 3-axis, 4-axis and 5-axis

  • 3-axis milling (17 machines). The workhorse route for prismatic parts: pockets, profiles, slots, drilled and tapped hole patterns, face and shoulder milling. Tolerances of ±0.02 mm are routine.
  • 4-axis milling (7 machines). A rotary fourth axis indexes or simultaneously rotates the workpiece, so features on several faces are cut in one set-up. This removes the position error that accumulates when a part is re-fixtured between operations, and typically holds ±0.01 mm.
  • 5-axis machining. Two rotary axes plus three linear axes reach contoured, compound-angle and undercut surfaces in a single set-up — impellers, turbine-style geometry, complex aerospace and medical shapes.

CNC turning and turn-mill combination

  • CNC turning (6 machines). Rotationally symmetric parts: shafts, bushings, fittings, connectors, threaded components, bores and grooves. Concentricity is inherently good because the part stays on one axis of rotation.
  • Turn-mill combination (4 machines). Turning and milling on one platform. Cross-drilled shafts, valve bodies and fittings with milled flats keep their true position relative to the turned diameter, because the part is not moved between machines.
Why the set-up count matters Every re-fixturing of a part adds its own position error to the tolerance chain. Choosing a 4-axis or turn-mill route often improves the achievable tolerance on a part more than tightening the tolerance on the drawing does. See tolerance stack-up.

Wire EDM and grinding

These two processes handle what milling and turning cannot: hardened material, sharp internal corners, and surfaces that have to be flat or round to a few microns.

  • Wire cut EDM (4 machines). Cuts any electrically conductive material regardless of hardness, with a kerf that produces sharp internal corners and no cutting force. Used for dies, punches, precision apertures and hardened parts that would distort under a milling cutter.
  • WEDM-MS, medium-speed wire EDM (2 machines). Higher cutting speed than standard wire EDM with a better surface finish, for fine features where both rate and finish matter.
  • Standard WEDM (1 machine). General EDM work and roughing passes.
  • Grinding (6 machines). Precision finishing of hardened or critical surfaces — bearing seats, sealing faces, guideways, and shaft diameters where roundness and surface finish are specified. Typically ±0.005 mm.

Die casting

Die casting injects molten metal into a hardened steel die, producing a near-net shape in a single cycle. It is the lowest cost-per-part route at volume for parts with the right geometry: fairly uniform wall thickness, draft on all vertical faces, and no deep undercuts without slides.

As-cast tolerance is around ±0.05 mm, so critical features are usually finish-machined after casting. Boyang Hardware machines its own castings in-house, which removes the tolerance and schedule risk of shipping castings to a second supplier for finishing.

Injection moulding

Injection moulding covers plastic components and metal inserts over-moulded with plastic, produced alongside the machined and cast parts they assemble with. Running all three processes in one facility means a product that mixes a machined aluminium housing, a cast bracket and a moulded cover arrives as one matched set rather than three shipments from three suppliers.

Metal stamping and sheet metal fabrication

Blanked, pierced and formed sheet components for parts where a press tool is the right economics: clips, plates, contacts, brackets and chassis parts, typically to ±0.10 mm. Sheet metal fabrication covers folding, cutting and welded or riveted assemblies. Secondary machining, tapping and finishing are carried out in-house where a stamped part needs a precision feature.

Surface treatment

Finishes are applied to specification and the certificate for the finish travels with the parts.

Assembly, testing and packing

Multi-part assemblies are built to the customer bill of materials, checked against the assembly drawing, and packed for shipment. Standard packing is poly bag and carton; EPE foam or a wooden case is used for higher-value or fragile parts. Shipping terms offered are EXW, FOB, CIF, CNF, DDP and DDU.

Questions about capability

Does Boyang Hardware have a minimum order quantity?

No fixed minimum. Prototypes and small batches are accepted, and repeat production pricing is quoted alongside the prototype price so the cost curve is clear before tooling decisions are made.

What is the largest part you can machine?

It depends on the machine and the axis configuration, and is best confirmed against your drawing. Send the part envelope and the critical features and the correct machine will be specified in the quotation, together with any feature that needs a different process route.

Can you machine and then cast, or cast and then machine?

Yes, both directions happen here. Parts are frequently cast to near-net shape and then finish-machined on the critical features in-house, which keeps the tolerance chain and the schedule under one supplier.

Do you support design for manufacturing review before ordering?

Yes, a DFM review is included with every quotation at no cost. The review looks at wall thickness, tool access, corner radii, datum scheme, and whether the specified tolerance can be held on the specified feature. See the DFM checklist.

How do you handle a drawing change after production has started?

Changes are handled under engineering change control: the revision is confirmed in writing, affected operations are identified, and parts already produced are quarantined until it is decided whether they can be reworked or must be scrapped. See engineering change control.
